Monorail and Bus Ride to Sentosa
Hate weaving
through a crowded place just to reach your destination? If so, we’ve got good
news for you! Getting to Sentosa Island can never be easier than this! You can
choose to ride on the monorail, also known as Sentosa Express or take SMRT’s
Service RWS 8. You can board the bus nearby Vivo City bus-stop where a special
pick-up point is set up for the service. On the other hand, the pick-up point
for the monorail is inside Vivo City itself, located at Lobby L, Level 3.
Payment via Ez-Link
The same
system applies when boarding the bus and you will be able to pay your fare
using your ez-link card. However, concessions do not apply for this service. As
for the monorail, you can also pay through your ez-link at the gantry before
proceeding to the platform to board.

Comfortable Bus Ride
Travelling
on the bus had been quite comfortable and relaxing. There were quite a few
seats, so we didn’t have to stand throughout the journey. The air conditioner on the bus was also working well. Not only that, the bus was relatively empty.
Hence, standing passengers were able to have their own space and did not have to squeeze among one another. However, the bus may not be the best choice if you
are in a rush since the waiting time can be quite long and inconsistent. The
bus will also stop at a few bus-stops before making its way to Sentosa Island.
Convenient and Quick Ride on The
Monorail
Our journey
on the monorail was better than expected. Although the train was somewhat full,
it wasn’t too packed. We were still able to stand comfortably and move around. At
the same time, we were also impressed by the efficiency of the monorail. It
takes less than five minutes before the next monorail arrives at the platform;
making it the fastest means of transportation to get to Sentosa. Although there
are only eight seats in the monorail, we felt that this is not a serious issue
since the journey is rather short and quick.
It’s Your Choice
In short, we
thought that our experience taking the bus and monorail were both equally good.
You may want to decide which to take
based on your needs and the amount of time that you have to spare for the day.
